A production and distribution system for television programmes and information is provided with a central computer, programme/information distribution means operated by the central computer and a number of transceiver units. The transceiver units can each be operated by a user and can each be connected to the central computer and the distribution means. The distribution means have inputs and outputs for different programme and information signals and can supply a signal selected by the user to each transceiver unit for reproduction on a television set. The central computer is programmed in such a way that a user, by means of his transceiver unit, can select a programme signal accessible to all users and each user can communicate with the central computer by means of his transceiver unit exclusively during the reception of that programme signal in order to set up a personal connection to an employee of the programme concerned or an information source.
