<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high luminance compression optimum for video signal distribution by one high luminance compression characteristic by raising a luminance expression degree to the desired sub section of a high luminance component based on the high luminance distribution of input luminance signals. SOLUTION: A section detection part 10 divides the high luminance section of input luminance information from an input terminal 60 into three high luminance sub sections for instance, checks the high luminance bits of the input luminance information and sends the number Dcount of information to be in the respective high luminance sub sections to a CPU 20. The CPU 20 sends section selection signals MUL and ADD for selecting the sub section for raising the luminance expression degree among the sub sections to a data correction part 40 through a correction control data output part 30 based on luminance information data distribution. The data correction part 40 performs correction so as to widen a section range occupied by the luminance information inside the sub section specified by the section selection signals MUL and ADD inside the high luminance section piled on the luminance level of low luminance information and performs output to a high luminance compression processing part 50.</p> |
