PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber, comprising a polyethylene terephthalate- based polymer and a specific polybutylene terephthalate-based polymer, having a bright color developing properties and useful for sportswear, carpets, curtains, etc. CONSTITUTION: This conjugated fiber comprises (A) a polymer which is a polyethylene terephthalate-based polymer having >=0.55 intrinsic viscosity [η]A and (B) a polymer which is a polybutylene terephthalate-based polymer, containing a compound of the formula (D is a trivalent aromatic group or a trivalent aliphatic group; X1 and X2 are each independently H or an ester-forming functional group; M is a metallic atom or an alkylphosphonium salt) copolymerized in an amount within the range of 0.5-5mol% and having <=1.05 intrinsic viscosity [η]B. The difference in the intrinsic viscosity [η]B-[η]A is >=0.02 and preferably <=0.30. The fiber is capable of preventing properties of fiber-forming steps from deteriorating. The fiber having good color developing properties and gloss together can be obtained by modifying the cross-sectional shape into a triangular. a flat form, etc.
