PURPOSE: To provide austenitic/ferritic stainless steel, which is excellent in drill cutting performance under the condition featured by a very small quantity of additive sulphur, which improves both corrosion resistance and deterioration in tenacity of the steel, and cutting conditions. CONSTITUTION: With the object of stainless steel containing 0.001 to 0.005% sulphur, cutting conditions are as follows: number or revolution of a drill: 30 to 1200r.p.m.; feed per revolution of the drill: 0.05 to 1.0mm; and [feed per revolution (of the drill)]×[number or revolution]: 30 to 200mm/minute.
