摘要 PURPOSE: To enable the reproduction of recording by near infrared laser or red laser by adding an azo compd. having absorption max. at a specific wavelength represented by specific formula to a recording layer. CONSTITUTION: A recording layer 2, a reflecting layer and a protective layer 4 are provided on a substrate 1. An azo compd. having absorption max. at a wavelength of 450-630nm represented by formula (R1 and R2 are independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, an alkoxy group or an aryl group, R3 -R8 are independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group, a sulfone group, a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryl group, an acyl group or an alkylcarboxyl group and n is 1 or 2) is added to the recording layer 2. By this constitution, an optical recording medium enabling the reproduction of recording by near infrared laser with a wavelength of 780nm and red laser with a wavelength of 635nm or 680nm is obtained.
