PURPOSE: To provide a highly productive producing method of a silicon nitride- based sintered compact having high density and mechanical strength. CONSTITUTION: The raw material of this sintered compact is a mixed powder composed of 1-15wt.% at least one kind of rare earths oxide, 1-12wt.% magnesium hydroxide, 0.1-3wt.% at least one kind of silicide selected from titanium silicide and zirconium silicide, and the remainder of silicon nitride. The components of the mixed powder are blended with each ether by adding purified water as a solvent and molded and the resultant powder is molded and sintered in an atmosphere containing a nitrogen gas of 1-2atm at 500-1800 deg.C. A silicon nitride-based sintered material sufficiently having high sintered density and strength property is able to be produced in high productivity by a normal pressure sintering method not requiring a powder mixing method using water solvent nor pressing. |
