The lock is used for locking of metal flat pieces, doors, safes, etc. It has improved reliability against breaking and blocking by inserted objects and operates both when there are deviations of the matching of the flat pieces and also when the electric supply is off. The lock consists of a base (1) fitted to a fixed flat piece (23), guiding unit (10) and two U-shaped mobile plates (15, 21), mirror-positioned opposite to each other. Between them an U-shaped frame (14) and blocking units (9) are fitted, fixed by rivets (11) to the guiding unit (10). A fixed (20) and a mobile (18) magnetic circuits with an electromagnetic coil (19) and winding (12) are fitted to the frame (14). There are springs (13) between frame (14) and base (1). A safety cartridge (16) and a tongue (17) are positioned on the base (1). Two cone-like studs (8) having cylindrical necks are fitted opposite each other in the guiding unit (10) in holes, above which studs (8) springs (6) and stoppers (5) sealing the respective holes of the unit (10) are fitted.
