PURPOSE: To produce a polypropylene container suitable as a packing container such as a tray, a lid, a cup or a pack for food, medicines, cosmetics or stationery having rigidity and transparency equivalent to those of a container made of polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene though made of polypropylene. CONSTITUTION: In a method for producing a container by thermally molding a polypropylene sheet subjected to uniaxial crystalline orientation at temp. equal to or lower than the m.p. of the sheet, the container is opened upwardly and the shape of at least one cross section obtained by cutting the container along the plane pararell to the opening surface thereof is a shape wherein aspect ratio is 1.5 times or more such as a rectangular shape or an oval shape and thermal molding is performed so that the angle formed by the crystalline orientation axis of the polypropylene sheet and the shortest segment of the cross section of the container to be thermally molded becomes 0-45 deg.. |
