PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus for automatically replacing the printing plate of a rotary press in which the plate can be automatically replaced by a simple operation with a simple structure, rapidly and efficiently, a facility cost can be reduced and high effectiveness and reliability can be provided. CONSTITUTION: An automatic printing plate replacing unit 20 for a rotary press 10 comprises a new printing plate cassette 30U provided at a printer 11 having a plate cylinder 13U to contain a new printing plate 80U mounted newly at the cylinder 13U, and a moving mechanism for moving the cassette 30U to approach or separate from the cylinder 13U at one edge 32U (having a turning mechanism 41U and a feeding mechanism 42U in the example of the drawing). |
