PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester composition suitable for e.g. magnetic recording media excellent in slipperiness and wear resistance, containing a specified am ount of organic polymer particles with a specific average diameter. CONSTITUTION: This polyester composition contains 0.01-2.0wt.% of organic polymer particles 0.005-0.1μm in average primary particle diameter and 0.05-1.5μm in average secondary particle diameter. It is preferable that the polyester be polyethylene 2,6-naphthalate, and the organic polymer particles 350 deg.C in thermal decomposition temperature, and <=0.5 in the relative standard deviation of the particle size distribution for the secondary particles. The particles are pref. prepared, for example, by emulsion polymerization of a mixture of a monovinyl compound having only one aliphatic unsaturated bond such as styrene and a compound having two or more aliphatic unsaturated bonds as cross-linking component such as divinylbenzene.
