PURPOSE: To perform ensurance of excellent combustion operation during low load operation of an engine as an air-fuel ratio is prevented from being brought into a lean state during the starting of the engine. CONSTITUTION: An intake air flow control valve 17 is located in an intake branch pipe 10 between a throttle valve 15 and a fuel injection valve 14. During the starting of an engine, the opening of the intake air flow control valve 17 is held in a fully closed state and this operation limits an amount of air fed in a combustion chamber 4 during the starting of en engine. When, after the starting of an engine is completed, an engine load is below a set load, the opening of the intake air flow control valve 17 is held in a half opening state. In this case, air A flowing through the intake air flow control valve 17 is guided toward injected fuel F and collision of the air A with the injected fuel F promotes atomization of the injected fuel F. When an engine load exceeds a set load, the opening of the intake air flow control valve 17 is held in a full opening state to prevent an intake air amount from being insufficient. |
