PURPOSE: To industrially advantageously produce color filters which are formed with colored coating films in a fine piece form and light shieldable coating films filling the spacings therebetween with good accuracy on a transparent substrate, are well prevented from light leakage, are not formed with the colored coating films on the light shieldable coating films and have excellent flatness and to produce a liquid crystal display device having high image quality. CONSTITUTION: A positive photoresist compsn. is applied over the entire surface of the transparent substrate 1 arranged with plural transparent conductive circuits 2 insulated from each other on its front surface and formed with light shieldable films 3 so as to expose the front surfaces of the transparent conductive circuits 2 in the fine piece form, by which an insulatable photoresist coating film 4 is formed. This photoresist coating film is exposed and developed from the rear surface of the substrate 1, by which the insulatable photoresist coating films 4 in the fine piece form on the transparent conductive circuits 2 are removed and the surfaces of the transparent conductive circuits 2 are exposed in the fine piece form. The colored coating films 5 are then formed by electrodeposition on the exposed transparent conductive circuits, by which the color filters having the colored coating films 5 in the fine piece form and the light shieldable films 3 in the spacings therebetween on the transparent substrate are produced. The liquid crystal display device is produced by using such color filters. |
