PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sarisfactorily perform a cutting blade form a perfect slit, when a longitudinal slit is formed in a cable to be stripped and strip the cable covering. SOLUTION: A cable stripper has a cutter 12, which cuts into the insulating sheath of a cable confined between the cutter and a clamp (18, 20). The cable clamp is energized by a spring 22 in the direction of an arrow A and can be locked at a correct position by a pivoted eccentric device 28, which is so provided as to make the device 28 pulled to the retainment which locks the device 28 more firmly by a force by which the clamp is displaced in a direction opposite to the force of the spring.
