PURPOSE: To obtain gasoline having a specific distillation temperature, containing a specificα-olefin in a specific amount, capable of decreasing a harmful component in a discharge gas, especially a hydrocarbon, having fast flame rate in an engine and excellent in accelerating response of the engine CONSTITUTION: This gasoline contains >=10 (vol%) ofα-olefin having <=90 deg.C 50% distillation temperature and <=90 deg.C boiling point [e.g. 4-7Cα-olefin such as isobutene, 1-butene, 1-(iso)pentene or 1-hexene]. Furthermore, 50% distillation temperature andα-olefin content are preferably 78-90 deg.C and 10-30%, respectively. The gasoline is obtained by mixing ordinary gasoline with cracked gasoline obtained by catalytic cracking, thermal cracking, etc., in a larger amount than conventional amount or mixing the ordinary gasoline with soft cracked gasoline whose fraction exceeding 90 deg.C boiling point is cut or mixing the ordinary gasoline with an 4-7Cα-olefin.
