PURPOSE: To enable checking of the safety in the position of inserting a guide wire by mounting a balloon for observation free to expand near the tip part of a catheter made up of a compound pipe with at least two tubes inserted thereinto and a balloon for expansion free to expand at a point closer therefrom. CONSTITUTION: A catheter is made up of a compound tube of a cover tube 4 having two tubes 2 and 3 therein piercing the overall length thereof, a balloon 5 for observation is mounted at the tip part thereof and a balloon 6 for expansion adjoining the this balloon. A gap is arranged between the two tubes 2 and 3 existing in the hollow portion of the cover tube 4 and is closed watertightly at the tip of the catheter to be used as fluid path for expanding the balloon for expansion to communicate a fluid outlet 14 for expansion with fluid inlet for expansion. Thus, the checking of the expansion degree of a blood vessel by the balloon for expansion is enabled through the balloon for observation before and after the expansion thereof without changing the catheter. |
