PURPOSE: To protect an inverter device from short-circuiting even when part of current detectors becomes faulty and, at the same time, to prevent the stoppage of the inverter by malfunctions. CONSTITUTION: First current detectors 10A and 10B which detect the DC input current of an inverter 5, a second current detector 14 which detects the current of a capacitor 4, a first discriminating means 12A which outputs a first discriminating signal when the DC input current of the inverter 5 exceeds a first protective level, a second discriminating means 12B which outputs a second discriminating signal when the current of the capacitor 4 exceeds a second protective level which is lower than the first protective level, and a third discriminating means 12C which outputs a third discriminating signal when the current of the capacitor 4 exceeds a third protective level which is higher than the first protective level are provided. When both the first and second discriminating signals are outputted, a short-circuiting device 8 is conducted. |
