PURPOSE: To enhance the activity of a copper carried alumina catalyst and to obtain a catalyst excellent in NOx removing performance in an atmosphere contg. oxygen in excess. CONSTITUTION: Copper and at least one kind of metal selected among nickel, cobalt and iron are carried as oxides on a carrier made essentially of alumina to obtain the objective catalyst. Nickel, cobalt or iron accelerates the variation of the valence of copper, NOx is easily adsorbed on copper as active sites and a removal reaction of NOx proceeds selectively. |
