<p>Purificn. and concn. of plutonium in aq. soln. also contg. uranium and fission prods., comprises (A) a first extraction cycle (1CUPu) including the steps of (i) extracting the uranium and plutonium (Ex.) by contacting the aq. soln. in counterflow with a solvent, (ii) washing (L.PF) the resulting solvent charged with uranium and plutonium in counterflow with an acid soln., (iii) recovering the plutonium (Reex.Pu) from the solvent by means of an aq. reducing soln. or by electrochemical redn., (iv) recovering the uranium (Reex.U) from the solvent by means of a dil. acid soln., and (v) treatment and regeneration of the spent solvent (T.S) and recycling the treated solvent, and (B) after oxidn. (Ox-Pu) of the recovered plutonium, a second complementary cycle of purificn. and concn. (2CPu) of the plutonium including the steps of (i) extraction of plutonium (Ex.) by contacting the soln., (ii) washing (L.PF) of the solvent charged with the plutonium in counterflow with an acid soln., and (iii) recovering the plutonium (Reex.Pu) from the solvent with an aq. reducing soln. whereby the second cycle (2CPu) is integrated into the first cycle (1CuPu) by utilising the treated solvent from the first cycle (1CuPu).</p> |
