PURPOSE: To modify the surface of a mold into a one excellent in releasing properties with an uncoated releasing agent, to improve the durability of the mold and to enable the repairing of the uncoated mold by forming a copper-iron alloy thermal spray material having a specified compsn. on the mold. CONSTITUTION: This sprayed coating has a compsn. contg., by weight, 10 to 80% Cu, 4 to 11% Al, 3 to 16% Cr, 0.02 to 2.0% of one or >=two kinds among rare earth elements, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. In addition to the same compsn., 10 to 30% Ni is preferably incorporated therein. This thermal spray material is formed of a two phase alloy constituted of a phase essentially consisting of a Cu and a phase essentially consisting of Fe, and after working into a wire, it is subjected to flame spraying by gaseous acetylene. Thus, a sprayed coating having 350 Vickers hardness is formed to remarkably improve the durability of the mold. The thickness of the thermal spraying is preferably regulated to 10 to 200μm.
