PURPOSE: To make it possible to obtain large operating force to surely execute ink jet operation while maintaining the device size small. CONSTITUTION: This ink jet mechanism for a tape cassette of a magnetic recording and reproducing device is constituted to execute the ink jet operation of the tape cassette by turning an ink jet operation lever 8 freely turnably supported in a device casing 2, thereby making a head base 11 on which a magnetic head 12 is mounted separate from a cassette holder 3 in which the tape cassette is loaded.
