PURPOSE: To shorten a time in which operation of an engine is rendered unstable during high temperature restarting by a method wherein an auxiliary chamber is only one in a number so that gas exhausted from a fuel injection device is minimized, in an internal combustion engine having a plurality of fuel distributing devices. CONSTITUTION: When a high temperature starting time exceeds a starting time threshold, operation of an injector 303 having no auxiliary chamber is stopped and an engine is switched to operation wherein starting is effected only by an injector 307 on the side where an auxiliary chamber 304 to store gas, such as fuel steam, is provided, fuel in a connection pipe 305 to interconnect fuel deliveries 301 and 302 flows in the fuel delivery 302 on the side where the auxiliary chamber 304 is provided. New fuel equivalent to fuel consumed by the injector 307 flows in the fuel delivery 301 on the side, where no auxiliary chamber 304 is provided, through a fuel inflow port 306. When fuel flows in the fuel delivery 302 to some extent, a cylinder group on the fuel delivery 302 side is started, the number of revolutions of an engine is started to increase, new fuel to the fuel delivery 301 is also increased and the generation of air bubbles is reduced. Thereafter, the injector 303 under a stop is restarted. |
