PURPOSE: To prevent splashes, etc., from sticking to the front end face of an optical fiber 1 by projecting the front end of an external tube forward of the front end of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A stationary sleeve 13 is fixed onto the front end of the optical fiber 1. The outside peripheral surfaces of the optical fiber 1 and the stationary tube 13 are covered by the external tube 2 and thereafter the front end of the external tube 2 is fixed to the stationary sleeve 13 in such a manner that gas passages 27, 26 are formed between the stationary sleeve 13 as well as the optical fiber 1 and the external tube 2 and the front end of the external tube 2 projects forward of the front end of the optical fiber 1. |
