PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical element capable of easily manufacturing an optical element having high diffraction efficiency, converging efficiency, and an ideal shape. CONSTITUTION: A work layer 2 is formed on a base plate 1 and the work layer 2 is worked into a shape having a desired depth distribution. By changing a selection ratio to be expressed by ratio of etching rate of the base plate 1 and the work layer 2, the work layer 2 and the base plate 1 are worked by anisotropic etching, and the work layer 2 is transferred to the base plate 1 by changing the shape of the work layer so as to obtain a desired optical element. |
