PURPOSE: To provide a lithium secondary battery which uses a high capacity electrode excellent in the initial charge/discharge characteristics wherein the lithium using efficiency is enhanced by lessening the irreversible capacity at the time of initial charge/discharge of the battery electrode capable of occluding and emitting lithium. CONSTITUTION: A lithium secondary battery includes a positive electrode capable of charge and discharge of lithium, a negative electrode capable of charge and discharge of lithium, and a non-aqueous electrolytic solution. At least one of the electrodes includes either of the substances A and B, where A is a composite prepared by subjecting carbon powder and/or binder to a processing with silane coupling material while B is a composite prepared by subjecting a composite oxide powder of lithium and transition metal and/or powder of electroconductive substance and/or a binder to a processing with a silane coupling material. |
