PURPOSE: To provide a secondary battery which includes an organic electrolytic solution chiefly containing triester of phophoric acid as main solvent, has a negative electrode consisting of a carbon material, and presents excellent battery performance and enhanced safety and storage performance. CONSTITUTION: A negative electrode 2 is chiefly composed of a cart>on material such as graphite which can be doped with lithium ions and be dedoped and is embodied in a shape using an electricity collecting material as a core. A carbonaceous precursor for a negative electrode active material is subjected to a surface processing, and the ratio of the peak intensity I135 around 135eV of phosphorus in XPS analysis of the surface condition to the total Ic of peak intensity around 284-289eV of carbon is ranged between 0.05-1.0. Triester of phosphoric acid is used as the main solvent of the electrolytic solution 4. Thereby reactions of the negative electrode with the solvent is inhibited and increment of the internal resistance is suppressed, which permits achievement of a secondary battery with organic electrolytic solution excellent in the battery performance and having a high storage performance. |
