PURPOSE: To obtain a printer which can prevent the runout of an line head letter and a line end letter from a frame line even when a framing function is executed by correcting the boundary between the pattern arrangement areas of line head letters and line end letters to agree with the boundary of a character pitch. CONSTITUTION: Since the distance L is -L for the line head letter of 'j', the pitch width PSX of a letter pitch 50 is increased by the absolute value of the distance L so that the left end 50A of the pitch width PSX of the letter pitch 50 agrees with the left end 51A of a pattern arrangement area 51. In this way, even when a frame line is formed on the basis of the end 50A of the letter pitch 50, the runout of part of the letter 'j' from a left frame line is prevented surely. In a similar way, the pitch width in a letter pitch 52 of the letter '¥'(line end letter of a text) is indicated by PSX, and the arrangement width of a pattern arrangement area 53 is indicated by W. |
