A PROCESS TO MAKE SMALL, DISCRETE, SPHERICAL ADDUCTS

A small, discrete, spherical Mg dihalide/alcohol adduct is made by: (a) dispersing the Mg dihalide and alcohol in a high viscosity liq. comprising hydrocarbons with viscosity above 50 cSt at 40[deg]C; (b) heating and agitating to obtain a molten dispersion; and (c) cooling the dispersion to form the required adduct. Also claimed are two processes as above, for the mfr. of a MgCl2/ethanol adduct, one of which uses a high viscosity liq. consisting of hydrocarbons and has a viscosity above 50 to 1200 cSt at 40[deg]C.
