[Class 94 (ii)] A machine for making flat or gusseted paper bags in which the web x is perforated, e.g. at 1, over its whole width, being formed into a tube y, either before or after perforating, from which tubular blanks are torn and the bottoms completed, comprises a pair of tear-off rollers 5 having a speed higher than the feed rollers 3 and arranged so near to the bottom-forming rollers 4 that they constitute the sole means of transport of the torn tube sections z to the bottoming rollers. The tear-off rollers may run at the same speed as the bottoming rollers or in faster or slower synchronism therewith. An auxiliary feed device may also be employed comprising two mutilated rollers situated within the width of the tube, the operating surfaces of which grip the tube only at the moment of tearing the tubular blank from the tube. |
