Women's nylon stockings or hoses or socks are of various lengths: tootsies, socks, kneehighs, thigh-highs, hoses of conventional lengths, panty-hoses, etc. Of these, one of the latest fashions or styles or vogues is the so-called "Thigh Highs" (one of the trade marks is "Stay-Ups"). The length of a "Thigh High" is about the middle of the thigh -- above the knee, but short of the conventional length. This "Thigh High" has all the looks -- stylish, smart, and even sexy, if you wish to call it so. However, it has a couple of drawbacks. This is supposed to be the reason why it has not caught on, at least not as much as was expected, according to some opinions floating around. This present invention deals with these problems in a practical and realistic way. The major problem, referred to above, is that this "Thigh High" keeps on slipping down the thigh, apparently because the thigh, in general, is conical in shape, tapering down. Hence the upper band of this "Thigh High" finds its easy way down from its intended place on the thigh, because of gravity as well as contraction and expansion of the thigh muscles, and worst of all, because of stamping of the feet down during normal daily activities. And, this is in spite of elastic rubber band or a state of the art gum-like "sticky" material inlaying the inner lining of the upper band of this "Thigh High". Another, rather an aesthetic, problem is the area of skin of the thigh lying "bare" between the said upper band of this "Thigh High" below and the lower hem of the Skirt above. Some ladies, no less modern, finds this rather immodest, if not indecent; in other words, not "lady like"| A strip of bare skin, especially in that particular location on the body, may appear to some as more suggestive than even baring the whole leg, thigh and all, such as in a swim suit or bikini, or strolling the beaches barefoot on a hot summer afternoon. Obviously, it is not what is shown, but, rather, what is suggested| This present invention overcomes the said problems or objections by having the upper border of this "Thigh High" being woven onto the lower border of the upper part of a panty hose cut up from the lower part at the level of the said upper border of the "Thigh High". This holds the "Thigh High" in position "covering" the underlying skin with a layer of nylons, which latter may be almost invisible, in any case. At least, no one can now say that the skin is "bare" |
