Process for combustion of gaseous fuel

The process comprises introducing a fuel-rich fuel/oxidant mixture into an inlet end of a combustion chamber having a stationary porous bed. The next step is burning the fuel-rich fuel/oxidant mixture within the stationary porous bed, forming a primary combustion zone within the stationary porous bed. The next step is introducing a secondary oxidant into the stationary porous bed downstream of the primary combustion zone, forming a secondary combustion zone and removing heat resulting from the combustion from the combustion chamber.
