A system for local radioactive treatment in a body passageway comprises a flexible catheter delivered to a site over a guidewire, a radioactive elongated source wire (94) delivered to the site through the catheter, and a constriction plug (88) fixed to the catheter distal end and having an i.d. greater than guidewire and smaller than source wire diameter. The plug is pref. radiopaque, and has a rounded distal end and diameter equal to or slightly larger than catheter diameter. Also claimed is a catheter with an opening for the guidewire in a tapered distal tip between the construction plug and a solid distal end plug, and a catheter with an inflatable ribbed balloon (82) to open a stenosis, optionally with a stent in the balloon. |
