The prodn. of expandable (co)polymers of styrene comprises (co)polymerising styrene and opt. at least one comonomer in aq. suspension in the presence of a polymerisation initiator with continuous addn. of the blowing agent(s) to the polymerisation medium in an amt. of 1-12 pts. wt. per 100 pts. wt. styrene and any comonomers, during the whole or part of the period of the (co)polymerisation during which at least 40% of the styrene and the comonomer(s) are converted into (co)polymer.
