The control mechanism (3), comprising the control rod (4) and indicator rod (5), is designed to control at the same time the operations to connect the network and to earth the electrical equipment. The control rod can be turned about its longitudinal axis in two directions to switch in either direction. All the positions of the switch may be indicated by a single indicator which may be a disc or a lever, fixed to a link (7) with the indicator rod (5). The switch may be operated by remote control in which the indicator has a switch controlling a distant display. The indicator has a lock (14) to prevent unauthorised control operations.
