The side window (48) of a vehicle fits into the side opening (40), which is formed by the lower (38) and upper (42) longitudinal edges and by the front (44) and rear (46) side edges. The glass panel is mounted to the body of the vehicle at a point (P1), which is situated close to the front side edge of the opening. The upper rear corner (74) of the glass is mounted so as to pivot around axis (A1), which is carried by carriage (96), which is mounted to slide, on the body of the vehicle, in a plane perpendicular to the pivot axis, roughly parallel to the rear side edge (46) of the opening. The lower rear corner (76) of the glass is linked to an element of the body by a link arm (80).
