The present invention provides nucleotide sequences and methods for increasing expression of type I insulin-like growth factor receptor, in particular to promote healing of burns, broken bones, and other wounds, nerve regeneration in injured tissue and angiogenesis. Inhibition of angiogenesis and/or vascular smooth muscle cell growth and proliferation can be achieved using IGF IR-specific antisense RNAs or oligonucleotides. IGF IR ATG-directed sense oligonucleotides elevate the expression of the IGF IR gene. |
