The furniture has horizontal shelves (1) which have four holes (3), with the same cross section, at the corners that define the polygonal shape of the support. The uprights (2) have the same shape and dimensions as the holes and are threaded vertically through them. Each shelf is held in place by horizontal cross bars (4) which engage in holes in the uprights, at the same level. The bars can be held in grooves in the lower surface of the shelf. Wedges (6) engage in grooves in the holes to hold each shelf on the uprights.
