<p>An assembly (10) of auxiliary apparatus for an internal combustion engine comprises a coolant pump (16), an oil cooler device (12) and an oil filter (14) unit combined and interconnected as a constructional unit for mounting on the internal combustion engine. The oil cooler device (12) comprises a housing (18) having an oil pathway and a coolant pathway (34), the pathways being arranged to allow heat exchange between oil and cooling flowing through said pathways. The housing (18) has a mounting surface (26) for attachment to an internal combustion engine, such that the oil pathway and the coolant pathway each extends beyond the mounting surface to be located, in use, within a recess in a wall of engine. The assembly (10) allows the engine envelope size to be reduced. The invention also relates to an internal combustion engine including the assembly and a unitary base structure for the assembly.</p> |
