Several parallel rods or ropes (8-14) are positioned in the interior (7) of the tube (4) to dampen its swinging movements. They have play transverse to the longitudinal direction of the tube and hit against each other and the inside of the wall (15) of the tube when the tube swings. The rods have a circular cross-section. They fully fill the interior of the tube except for the play. The ID of the tube is at least three times the dia. of the rods. Their cross-section can vary. They are made from metal, esp. steel, and stretch the full length of the tube. Some of the rods are completely loose inside the tube, including the ends, whereas at least one has its ends fixed.
