<p>An electrical power controller (10) includes an input filter (11), a touch logic (12) and a power conditioner (13) combining to control a power device (14) coupled to an electrical load (15) which in turn is coupled to an AC main power source (AC Mains). The controller (10) includes an overload or short circuit current sensor (18) and apparatus for disabling the electrical power coupling to the load (15) to protect both the load (15) and the output power device (14) against excessive current. A visual display (16) indicating the level of voltage applied to the load (15) is provided. In alternate embodiments, a timer (465) having a preprogrammed power variation profile imposes a predetermined variation of power to the load (15) over time.</p> |
