A mains connection unit for an office desk has at least one easily accessible socket (12) in a housing (16) which is attached to the table, but which can be detached if required. There are also other less accessible sockets (27) of different design. The housing is C-shaped, fitting over the table edge, with a clamping plate (22) and clamp screws (29). Thus the accessible sockets are in the upper portion of the housing, above the table surface, and the others are below the table surface. The mains lead comes in to one of these lower sockets. There is a switch (28) on the housing sides for at least one of the sockets.
