<p>In a magnetic disk drive, heads (18,19) are loaded and unloaded onto a magnetic disk (14) by wings (43, 44) attached in close proximity to the magnetic heads (18, 19). The wings (43, 44) ride on opposed profiles (41, 41A, 42, 42A) to separate the heads (18, 19) so that they can travel on either side of the disk (14) and the heads (18, 19) are then brought together properly onto the disk (14). As the heads (18, 19) are withdrawn from the disk (14), they are separated by the opposed profiles (42, 42A) and then the heads (18, 19) are parked on a cleaning pad (48).</p> |
