Between its sealing cuffs (4), shaft part (2) casing (5) consists of plastics which is of limited elasticity and whose axial sectors (51) similar to shaft collars etc. are thickened so as to axially support the cuff collars (41). The radial bearing for the collars is provided by peripherally grooved (54) etc., casing sectors (52). Plastics casing sectors (53), also of limited elasticity, adjoin the externally toothed shaft ends (21,22) and act as axially elastic end-stops as play absorbers for the inside parts (31) of the driving joints (3) plugged onto the two shaft ends. Shaft part ends are of the same diameter and similar outside toothing and outside diameter to the shaft ends right the way along. The casing sectors are knurled or rolled (23) as a positive join between shaft part (2) and the casings (5,53). The plastics casings (5,53) are preferably sprayed or injection-moulded into place.
