Press tool changes between main and side tables

Rollers (24) and friction elements (8) fitted to press stable (1) and side table (4) are used respectively to support and move the press tool (25) during tooling changes as the elements rub against the tool on the rollers. Rollers and elements both project above the two tables during re-tooling, the elements in turn supported by springs so as to protrude beyond the rollers during tooling changes. The side table comprises two bracket arms (3) beside the press table, each arm fitted with rollers and elements. The elements (9) consist of a toothed belt (14) which is run over at least two sprockets (11,12) so the longitudinal edge of the belt runs parallel to the table (1) top. One sprocket at least should be powered and both belt and its sprockets are contained in a U-rail (9) supported by springs so the upper surface of the belt reaches above the free ends of the rail legs. The rail itself lies in a groove in press and/or side tables.
