Supply of granular raw material to a glass furnace

Solids transporter for feeding a reactor with granular material consists of a reciprocating plate with a frame which receives material from a chute at one end and delivers it into the reactor at the other end. The installation is fitted in front of an opening in the reactor wall and is supported outside it. The transporter frame, which securely closes the opening into the reactor, is water-cooled. The transporter itself maybe moved out of the feeding position on its supports. Inclination and reciprocating amplitude of the feed plate, which is also water-cooled, are continuously variable through its connecting links. The reciprocating linkage is motor driven, and whilst principally moving the plate in the transport direction also turns it in a horizontal plane. The installation is partic. designed as a feeder for supplying raw materials into the melting furnace of a plate glass plant.
