A gene participating in apoptosis characterized by containing a base sequence coding for the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1. The gene can be used for the expression and detection of proteins participating in apoptosis and is useful for the diagnosis and clarification of the pathological conditions of various diseases wherein apoptosis participates and for the prevention and treatment of apoptosis-related diseases by inducing or inhibiting apoptosis.
