<p>A liquid crystal composition which not only satisfies various characteristics required of liquid crystal compositions for AM-LCD, but also particularly has a lowered threshold voltage, an improved low-temperature compatibility and a widened nematic phase range. The composition contains at least one compound represented by general formula (I-1) or (I-2) as a first component and at least one compound represented by any of general formulae (II-1) to (II-7) as a second component, (wherein n represents an integer of 1 to 10; Z1 represents -CH2CH2- or a single bond; X represents F, OCF3 or CF3; and Y represents H or F). The composition is useful as a low-voltage liquid crystal material of various modes including active matrix and STN systems.</p> |
