Heater for road vehicle with IC engine

The vehicle heater derives heat from the IC engine (5), and also from the cooling of an air compressor (2) for the exhaust catalytic converter system, and/or from a generator driven by the engine. This is incorporated into a cooling circuit of the engine, such that heat from the compressor and/or the generator may be transmitted into the cooling fluid. The heat may also be transmitted into the cooling fluid using a heat exchanger (32). Between 0.5 kW and 1 kW of heat may be extracted from the generator immediately following start-up of the engine.
