This invention is a hydraulic system for exercise equipment comprising: a first piston (230) and a second piston (254), each piston axially reciprocal in a respective first cylinder (212) and second cylinder (236), the first piston and second piston each dividing an interior of the first and second cylinders into first (228, 252) and second chambers (218, 250), the first and second cylinders each having an end portion substantially sealing their respective first chamber, the first and second cylinders each having a first fluid port (220, 244) allowing fluid communication with their respective first chamber, a first and second adjustable valve (280, 282) each having a first valve fluid port coupled to the first fluid port of the respective cylinder, the first chambers of the first and second cylinders being in fluid communication.
