The bristle assembly testing involves continuously measuring the required force for moving the scanner (5), which has a right-angled projection (5a), in the longitudinal direction through the bristles (1) of a brush. The determined force-path diagram is compared with a force-path diagram corresp. to a faultless bristle assembly. Each bristle head or bristle carrier with a force-path diagram deviating from the desired bristle assembly, is sorted out as unusable. The mechanical scanner is moved through the bristle assembly at a constant speed. The scanner is moved in two opposing directions.
