An electrical table lamp has a spherical body (4) set at the end of a stand that is formed by bars (2) that also contain wires (12,13) for supplying power. The light bulb (9) is in a socket within a reflector (17) in the housing. The housing is supported on ball shaped ends at the tips of the bars and contains contact pads. The spherical housing is produced of two electrically conducting half shells (5,6) that are separated by an insulating ring (7). The end contacts engage the shells to supply low voltage power from a transformer (14) in the base. The direction of the lighting can be varied by moving the spherical housing.
